Mission Statement

Head Start of Northeastern Nevada is dedicated to creating a supportive environment that promotes the establishment of positive relationships that are based on trust, respect, and self-growth for children, families, and staff.

The Story of Head Start

Since its inception in 1971, Head Start of Northeastern Nevada has been dedicated to fulfilling Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty” initiative of ensuring that every child has their basic needs met. Our comprehensive program includes providing resources and services to families, nutritious meals, health screenings and services, reliable childcare, and fun educational school readiness programs for qualified children between the ages of 0 and 5. Our team is here to help you and your family get the Head Start it needs.

Our program is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), state-licensed, and designed to promote strong family relationships, educational and employment opportunities for families, and physical and emotional well-being for children. We also provide freshly-prepared meals tailored to your child’s dietary needs and nutritional requirements. Our highly-accredited and licensed staff are committed to providing a safe, fun, and educational experience for your children.

Head Start of Northeastern Nevada serves the community and is inclusive in supporting families facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness, foster care, low income, developmental disabilities, parent military deployment, and more. Collaboration with community partners helps Head Start support individual family needs and provided resources for successful transitions into Kindergarten. Our team is here to help get your family the Head Start it needs.
